"Iceland: Beyond Sigur Rós" is a brand new 30 minute documentary about Iceland's music scene. The not-for-profit film, made by Serious Feather aims to be a "celebration of Iceland's dynamic and diverse contemporary independent music scene". Filmed in full HD, the documentary features insightful interviews with Haukur Magnússon flamboyant editor of Reykjavík's Grapevine Magazine, Ólafur Arnalds world renowned pop-classical composer and music producer, and Pétur Úlfur Einarsson and Hafsteinn Michael Guðmundsson, ambitious co- founders behind online music distributor Gogoyoko. The doc also features performances from Icelandic acts such as Hafdis Huld, Berndsen, Mugison, Ólafur Arnalds, Lára Rúnars, Bloodgroup, For A Minor Reflection, Seabear, Sykur, Severed Crotch and DJ Musician.

Sigur Rós have given a dozen film makers the same modest budget and asked them to create whatever comes into their head when they listen to songs from the band's album Valtari. The idea is to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom. These 16 films are the result. Sad, funny, beautiful and, occasionally, plain bewildering, they represent just some of the available emotional responses to this most contemplative album.

Björk and Sigur Rós teamed up in June of 2008 to hold a concert to raise awareness for Icelandic nature.

Jerome Josserand is a professional snow kiter. In 2007 he set the world record for the highest kite flight. It was 450 m above the ground. Jerome is in love with wind and its power to use it to mount high mountains. His home is a place called Col du Lautaret which is also his playground. On his way he found Iceland. He noticed that there is snow and wind all the time. And he thought:” What if I would cross Iceland from southern to northern Iceland in just one day, with just power of wind?” And so he did. Crossing Iceland in such winter conditions was extremely tough and demanding. He needed to be in great physical and psychical preparation. There was wind exceeding 80km/h, there was equipment failure at -25C while shooting the movie, there was snow and freezing Icelandic nature everywhere. Even though Jerome prepared himself well for this journey, in the end everything depends of the power of wind… The question is – did he succeed? Did he make his wish come true?

Every day brought fresh news of the complicated and often illegal deals made by financiers and bankers in the years leading up to the collapse.
